As I began to watch my telenovelas, I noticed a lot of similarities in the way that the story line went with the falling in love and then obstacles and then ending in love. There are many cultural differences between the two genres but also many similarities. Overall, they continue to pull me in.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/17204022936113941167noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-60727593613671355.post-73180655592586323062015-02-25T16:54:36.448-08:002015-02-25T16:54:36.448-08:00It's funny that you bring up the concept of kp...It's funny that you bring up the concept of kpop because I'm an avid listener and viewer of the korean music and entertainment industry. I tend to sing along to the lyrics and suddenly pausing because I don't know what the heck I'm saying. I did notice significant cultural differences within the Korean, American, and Latino backgrounds but I did notice many similarities. For example, Latino telenovelas and korean dramas express extreme plots that would are no where close to realism but if it captivates the viewers' attention then why not?! People are falling in love with this kind of television. Telenovelas allow hispanic culture to be seen worldwide and that sheds light upon the culture. I'm pretty sure South America's tourist attractions have been booming even more since the introduction of telenovelas in other countries and continents. People want to experience that culture up close and personal. It's amazing. For example, Ugly Betty was such a good show, but I would have never known that it was originally a telenovela. I think that this is great that globalization is occurring, moving the world to a big market economy. I could not find my show with english subtitles, which forced me to watch the show in only spanish, which fortunately I was able to understand from all the spanish classes I have taken. Globalization has influenced me into my International Business and Business Finance major because I love traveling and seeing other cultures. This FYOS was great because it gave us an opportunity to truly understand another culture through television. As globalization continues in the world, so will the production of telenovelas.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/03226962272509010121noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-60727593613671355.post-48579081362952149862015-02-19T09:50:53.812-08:002015-02-19T09:50:53.812-08:00I found it extremely interesting when Dr. A was ta...I found it extremely interesting when Dr. A was talking about the popularity of Korean and Turkish dramas in hispanic culture. I also had no idea people here were interested in them either so the fact your hallmates brought them up to you I find very intriguing. I also came across a website that was advertising them a few weeks ago and now it makes much more sense. That is definitely first-hand proof that the globalization of telenovelas is increasing.Anonymoushttps://www.blogger.com/profile/13593659825194477078noreply@blogger.com
